SOB - Day 6

The last day of South of the Border Volleyball featured the final games in each of the three divisions. Giants play the game in the Division 1 finals, like Mike (a client from last year) and Stafford (yes, him again) shown here. They play waaay above the net, something most of us lesser volleyball players can only do in our dreams. One surprise was the guy in red shorts, from my former home state of Washington, who was decidedly shorter than his fellow competitors. What he lacked in height, however, he more than made up for in jumping ability and defensive quickness. He dug a number of balls from the taller players and was able to jump well enough to put most of them to the sand, even against formidable blocks such as this. It looks like he is watching in awe in this shot, but he was an integral part of each partnership and helped the professional win the match in the end.
