Shots 2 Halifax 2
Moles letting fly inside the penalty area but unfortunately the shot was blocked. Bradley Bubb begging for the ball to be played to him, and the leagues top scorer Brett Williams looking on. Maybe the pass to Bradley would (in hindsight) have been a better option, but Moles has been one of our most consistent players this season, and always manages to make something happen
Not a bad game. First half was a little dull with the Shots lacking the rhythm and pace that they had on Tuesday night at Barnet. Brett missed a penalty that we had won, although to be fair it was a slightly weak decision for a handball as the Halifax lad fell to the floor. Most time it wouldn't have been given. Halifax then opened the scoring a couple of minutes later with their goal-scorer at least a yard off-side. Shots kept themselves in the game with a Jordan Roberts goal just before half-time.
Second half was definitely a better game, although the wind got up and the rain came pelting down. Pretty miserable fair standing on the South Stand Terrace, but us Old Age Slabbers are made of stern stuff, and it was only when Elf and Safety interfered (they were worried that the wind would bring down the advertising boards!) that we were moved off the Slab into other parts of the ground.
Craig Stanley then scored from a free kick that friend Charlie visualised before he took it, but unfortunately Halifax kept coming at us, and we let them in with some poor defending 5 minutes before the end of the game.
But in terrible conditions against a team who are gunning for the play-off's, maybe a point isn't a bad return - and we certainly played significantly better than we got hammered 4-0 at their place a couple of months ago.
With Lincoln and Woeking not playing on Tuesday night, we got to Nuneaten knowing that a win will take us above them. Come on The Shots
