Symbolism

Today, the penny has dropped, or as we say in The Netherlands “Het kwartje is gevallen” (the quarter has dropped). I’ve known it in my head for quite some time, but now I actually feel it in my very core, my gut.

It doesn’t say it will be easy, but I will be on my way.


(January 1st, 2002 The Netherlands, together with 11 other countries in the European Union, changed using their own currency to using the euro. Until then, the Dutch had been paying with guilders. The quarter in this photo reminds of those days)
