Difficult One..
Got to see some amazing sights around Athens today. Started off at the heart of Athens central (syntagma station). Caught the hop on and off bus and took the port route to Piraeus where all the cruise ships and shipping ports are! As you approach this neighborhood you can see the overwhelming development over the centuries and how crowded this one rock is. Walked around the port area and then walked towards the beach area where I had lunch. Took so many pictures (some really amazing shots here). After the visit to Piraeus I caught the bus back and did Athens city tour which took 90 minutes. Saw lots of historical buildings including the national archaeological museum (which I will definitely visit next time). I finished the tour around 4.30pm which gave me enough time to climb up Mt Lycabettus hill (I stayed halfway up this hill in the Kolonaki neighborhood). The afternoon/evening was perfect. The climb up is gradual and not difficult (well atleast for me) and the views are phenomenal. Got to the summit in time to soak in the daylight and more photos and then the beautiful sunset over Athens. The summit has a church at the top and a very well established restaurant with 360 degree views over Athens. I had a delicious cup of mocha and a desert after the sun set so I could see the city transform and glitter during the night. The restaurant is normally open till 1am and I highly recommend the climb! A must do when in Athens. From today's pic it was difficult to pick one picture however I think the sunset over Athens was very special for several reasons.
