Operation Murray Cod
A bit of a gruesom Blip today. One of A.s good mates from inland NSW very generously brought him in a prized Murray Cod that he had caught in one of the western rivers. They are a native freshwater fish and their habitat is the Murray/Darling system and it's tributaries. It was 80 cm long and is a very prized catch for anglers. They mostly catch and release but occassionally keep one or two as they are a very nice tasting fish. There are really strict bag and size limits on them and also a closed season for their breeding times.
Murray Cod Info
It's head had to be cut off to fit in our freezer but A. is holding the head on so I could get the photo (and complaining bitterly about how cold it was to hold).
It has now been cut into smaller portions and put back in the freezer for later.
I just hope he has cleaned the garage out now - not sure I want the smell of fish greeting me when I next go in there.
