Fueling up

Today the Timaru Triathlon was held at Caroline Bay and in its 30th year. I was part of a team in 2006 when we won the teams race I did the 750m swim.
Due to the wind last night and this morning the swim was cancelled and the event become a Duathlon with a 3.3k run 40k ride and 10k run. This competitor has just finished the 40k ride and is in transition for the 10k run.
Not an overly big turn out for this event and they are also struggling for marshals which means events like this in the future will disappear a real shame. Athletes like photographers tie up a lot of money into their equiptment. This competitors equiptment
Bike $2500,Helmet $100 plus,cycle shoes $150 plus,triathlon suit $200 plus and the investment keeps going up. Some of the bikes I saw today would buy you a Nikon D800 and leave you change to buy a nice Telephoto lens.
