Blue Structure
Cast glass by Emma Camden.
While my mother was off to Matakana to conclude payment for this artwork, I had lovely visitors. Friends from Wellington who have been motor-cycling around the far north stopped by on their way south again, this afternoon.
I had not seen my old high school friend in something like a decade, when we caught up a little less than a year ago. I confess I was unsure - after so much time - how easily we would restrike our friendship. Extremely, as it turned out, & a few days later my mother and I were witnesses at her registry wedding (a practical matter as she and her partner travel a lot and many countries are kindlier to husband & wife, than 'mere' life-partners). I am now also very fond of him.
Of course it is always easy to spend time with people who share your interests, have very similar attitudes and political positions, and who have a similar sense of humour. It would have been extraordinary if I hadn't had a most pleasant afternoon.
