The old slate quarry
In need of a good walk today we set off to Llanberis in Snowdonia and started to walk in the Padarn Country park which goes through the site of the old Dinorwic slate quarry, by the National Slate Museum in the background we stopped to look in a wooden information hut where there were some leaflets and maps of the different trails you can explore, when a tremendous thunderstorm complete with giant hailstones appeared out of nowhere so we sheltered there until it blew over.
We climbed up to the old Quarrymens Hospital which was closed but we have visited before and it's full of old medical contraptions that were used on the men who suffered some horrendous injuries while working in the quarry.
This is where I took the photo from looking down on to the old railway track that is now restored as a steam train running alongside the Padarn Lake for the visitors
