Glasgow International Athletics Match

In 2013 this annual Athletics Match moved from the Kelvin Hall to the new Emirates Arena which will be used for events at the Commonwealth Games this summer. The building also houses the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. On arrival at the venue I was able to have a sneak view of the velodrome which is very impressive. The whole complex is well worth a visit - better when going to see an event. The Athletics was top class with well known names competing. Although Scotland (competing on their own for the 1st time) came with 4th in the final results the team had 5 1st places including 2 national records Guy Learmonth for 600m and Laura Muir for 800m(Laura also received the award for best performance of the match). Also during the afternoon Lynsey Sharp was presented with the European Gold Medal from the European Championships 800m.
