Visited the Royal Armouries this afternoon.

"Chair" was made from parts of guns handed in during a scheme run by the Christian Council of Mozambique to accept unwanted weapons in exchange for useful tools like ploughs and sewing machines. Local artists were given the guns, previously used in the civil war, to make sculptures that were shown at the exhibition "Swords into Ploughshares: Transforming arms into art". The artist is a Mozambican called Kester.

A poignant and thought-provoking bit of recycling.
