The voting line

This is part of a sculpture done to commemorate the first democratic vote in South Africa in 1994, when Nelson Mandela was elected President. It's a 38-metre-long metal sculpture of South Africans – of all shapes and sizes – connected together to make what is simply entitled the Voting Line. At the end of the queue is a metal cut-out of Nelson Mandela standing tall and victorious, his fist in the air.
Behind the figures are the historical Donkin Houses dating back to the 1820 settlers, and the church is the Hill Presbyterian Church.
