LA Model
This is a picture of a model that is in the Landscape Architecture Studio on campus. More accurately it is a perspective withing the model that is looking through an archway and into the street. This model has been sitting in the same spot in the studio for quite sometime now, and I kind of enjoy that because I believe the person who built it does not claim it, but I am not sure as to why. It is very well put together and gives an accurate depiction of their intended design that is on the base map. I can really appreciate the aspect of a well put together model because it gives a sense of place the the viewer more so than a 2D graphic. The model to me makes me look at a plan differently, but in a good way. It is hard for someone that does not understand or imagine what the plan view of a design really looks like if the design was going to be built. That is one reason as to why the picture is taken at that level, so that an eye level perspective is showing. With this view it is almost possible to imagine that the design is a built sight despite the fact that it is made of matte board and wooden blocks. Not that I am saying it should be a requirement in future classes for students because it is a very time stringent thing to do a physical model that is well done, but it certainly would not hurt to try.
