St Kentigern

St Kentigern (or Mungo Jerry as he was popularly known in the 6th century) was responsible for civilising some of the Pictish tribes of southern Scotland and northern England, where he introduced them to a primitive wooden instrument called Ye Ukulelie. This was played widely at feasts and celebrations, but as Britain entered the Dark Ages the ukulelie became notorious as an instrument of torture, and in recent centuries became almost forgotten. In 2013 St Kentigern is said to have appeared in a vision before the barbarians of the Parish of Burneside in Cumbria and exhorted them to have faith once again in the power of the Ukulelie. The rest, as they say, is history.
