BIrthday Eve Drinks
Today was my birthday eve and also the day we had decided that alcohol would again touch our lips after 21 days on abstinence.
RobT had booked us into a local hotel in Malton, The Talbot, where James Martin (TV chef) is the head chef. I think in this instance head chef means he comes up with the menu and pops in once a month.
Anyway, we had the James Martin tasting menu with wine and it was wonderful. The hotel room was lovely too.
And, after one glass of champagne in the room on arrival both of us were slightly tipsy. Its only when you haven't had a drink for a while that you realise how powerful it is.
After nothing and then champagne and a glass of wine to accompany each course I am thinking of having another break until Valentines. Must say I am sleeping much better since stopping the booze.
