Layered hills
After a long lie-in we got up for a breakfast of bacon and eggs and then headed over to the West coast where we walked along a track to the Machrie Stone Circles (one of which you can see part of). I don't think anyone knows for sure what they were for (think Stonehenge on a smaller scale) but the most popular explanation is burial stones.
C found some chocolate coins on a stone and ate one... we tried to stop him claiming they were a blatant offering but it was too late....the heavens opened as the Gods unleashed their wrath. We ran back to the car and ate some penguins and apples.
p.s I didn't realise how beautiful the layered colours were until I was flicking back through the photos, so I had to blip them.
