CBD

This is the view from my balcony - Brisbane City Centre, or 'CBD' as everyone here says. It looks good at night but I'm not clever enough to take a good photo of it.

Today was my first day in the orthopaedics department of Princess Alexandra Hospital. It was a long day (6.30-16.30) but all the better because you can fit more in to long days! I managed to fit in a ward round, a trauma meeting, an orientation, 2 surgeries, a clinic, and one toilet break. No lunch though. Really enjoyed my day though, met loads of nice people and found it really interesting to see the differences compared with the UK. I think I'm going to have a really good time!

As a nice treat when I got home I had a couple of emails to say some work I did on spinal x-rays has been selected to be presented at a couple of conferences. Strange but good feeling that my work is considered vaguely good/important/interesting enough for other people to hear about.
