Next time I'll try and confound them by trotting up the stairs after they've passed and do the exact same pose/shot one floor up.

Then run like hell as soon as I've worked out which direction they're driving in and lie in wait for them somewhere. That could actually work with pedestrians too. HMMMM. Festival fun for all.
