A Raging Sunset
With the wind swinging to the east today the rain at last stopped, although it remained cold and cloudy. Still, it was a chance to get out for a walk, so we headed down to Westport where the skies looked slightly brighter.
Quite amazing how all the gales have changed the beach. Lots of stones thrown up by the waves and large areas of sand dunes washed away. Even the slope of the beach is much steeper.
As we walked south, I kept an eye on the horizon as there was a slither of clearer sky on the horizon. Just a chance the setting sun (wherever it was amongst all the thick clouds!) might put in a brief, and indeed its only, appearance of the day!
As we returned north and approached the car park, my hopes were realised, even if only for a few brief moments. So today's blip looks over the raging waves towards Rathlin Island and the Antrim Coast of Northern Ireland, some 15 miles or so away. You might also be able to make out a ship just to the right of Rathlin Island.
With a dearth of good sunrises and sunsets this Winter, you really have to make the most of any opportunity!
