Pippin Jr.

I haven't seen my dear little black squirrel, Pippin, for quite some time but this little fellow is a regular visitor. He's easily spooked and not nearly as friendly as Pippin who would take a peanut out of my hand. I'm assuming Pippin Jr. is somehow related to Pippin, at least I'd like to think so.

I belong to a small group of squirrel lovers at work who carry peanuts in our pockets for the little fellows. Somebody apparently expressed concern about the squirrels being aggressive because we're now banned from feeding them, at least obviously. We're also banned from giving the crows peanuts, probably by someone who was scared by Alfred Hitchcock's movie. I never saw an aggressive squirrel or crow but the squirrels did run up to certain of us knowing we were good for a peanut or two and the crows were pretty quick to catch on to who had the peanuts. One of my co-workers was reduced to tears because she would take her breaks outside and feed a squirrel or two and she said it was a wonderful way to spend a few minutes to relieve the stress of work. She told me the other day that she was giving a squirrel a peanut and was approached by a security officer who told her to stop. We think they should worry more about other things, but we can't argue. We're not about to be deterred though, just more sneaky creative.
