Old School Tie....

.....interesting lunch. Rog, my neighbour, took us out for lunch to his club. The House of Lords must have been quiet today 'cause there was more than your fair share of them in here. The New Club (Eastablished 1787) has been 'mixed' since the 1990s, but ladies still congregate in their favourite rooms and gentlemen are to be found in the Morning Room, Smoking Room and Billiards Room.

As he left the restaurant, an old posh geezer excused himself very politely and asked if I was wearing an Old Etonian FC tie....."T M Lewin", I answered. He looked slightly confused and trundled on his way. Anyhoo, lovely food and the most surreal atmosphere; the smell of gin-sozzled old folks permeates the ancient oak panels.
