None shall pass.
I was on duty driving the Sanday Bus today. Started at 6:45am to meet the 7:35am Orkney Ferries sailing to Kirkwall. Took a few shots at Loth pier in very poor light. They were OK, but mostly landscape cameos, having no detail at all. The next ferry was due in just after half past two in the afternoon so I thought I'd wait until I had a chance to take another batch photos in daylight. Right on cue, the clouds rolled in, dumped sleet everywhere and made it dark again. I took Gail's bloggie with me in the bus, just in case, when this scene presented itself. The roads are generally quieter than a church mouse, except for the Loth road at ferry time. There are two kinds of traffic jam on Sanday. Ones like this 'horrendous' three-vehicle tailback at 'Branch' and the other involves farmers moving flocks or herds along the highway. It makes a journey interesting. Road rage is very much a thing of the past.
