Hard at Work
Well, we are still putting pieces together and unpacking but the "lion's share" of the work is done - at least until we come back with the "real" paint at Christmas. Rachel is happy she has has her desk set up just the way she likes it! I do notice in these pictures that we need to organize the cords a little better!
Rachel loves to write stories. She hand writes them and then types them on her laptop. She also looks lots of things up on line. I told her a few weeks ago that Miley Cyrus had a lot of comedic talent similar to Lucille Ball. Last weekend when we told her that Special Olympics wanted her to dress like Lucille Ball for the parade she said, "Oh boy, do I get to eat all the candy and stuff it in my pockets and under my hat, and down my shirt?" I said, "What?" She said, "You know, like when she got a job wrapping candy and it went too fast" I asked her where she had seen that episode and she told me she wanted to see who Lucille Ball was and what she had in common with Miley Cyrus so she went online and watched the whole episode! I'm not computer literate (I stIll use the Yellow Pages and a dictionary) so I was terribly impressed! I tell her all the time that if she didn't have Down Syndrome, she would be a genius instead of just smart!
Tomorrow, we go to talk to a woman who gives acting lessons. We shall see.....I also have to send her head shots out to the agent I found that handle people with disabilities. But I thought it would look good to have a few acting lessons under her belt, too! Anyway, her room is almost there! Goodnight from the California Desert!
