Has Spring Sprung?

We have not (yet!) had any worthwhile snow and any frosts have been minor. Yes, there has been rain and plenty to spare but in general this winter so far has been reasonably kind. Perhaps that is why the snowdrops are flowering already and other spring flowers are already pushing through.
My gran had a saying; "February will fill the dyke whether it be black or white!" a reference to either snow or rain filling the ditches. Do the weather statistics bear this old saying out, I wonder.
