Doha Days
Another sunny day - the second one of sports at The Aspire Zone for me this week. I remembered to use my sunblock today. 29 degrees in the unshaded stadium! This sports complex played host to the Asian Games in 2006 and was a major factor in the successful Qatari World Cup bid. The torch like tower is a useful landmark for me until I bring my satnav back with me after our half term break which begins today and will last for three weeks. The Supreme Education Council of Qatar has decreed that next week must be taken as an extra week's holiday! The teachers are very happy. The students are even happier. The parents, by and large are not!
If you look closely at the path beside the sign you will see that it is made of cushioned tarmac to ease walking. The quotation below tells you more about the Aspire Zone and gives you a further insight into athletic life here !
Exercise and Jogging Trails
Aspire Zone offers a variety of free leisure activities for the public. If you head up to the public trails, you can enjoy your favorite pastime, starting from jogging to horse-riding to cycling. You can take another journey on a “wood-chip” track that gives you a sense of experiencing nature and woods. The jogging track, being covered with rubber, helps reduce the effort of walking and fatigue. It is 2.8 km long. Another track is dedicated for horse-riding fans.
