Jings, Crivens..
Once again, Edinburgh is looking silly when it comes to planning. For 10 years the derelict ground between the foot of the Royal Mile and Calton Hill has been the site of a battle. This is between plans for 'modern' glass offices, hotels and some housing and a more sympathetic design giving a nod to the older buildings that surround it, within the World Heritage area. Today the former 'won' despite one of the planning department saying the project was “not hideous enough to reject”. Only in Edinburgh would it take 10 years to fill a prime piece of land with something that elicits such comments.
At present the site is surrounded by excellent graffiti, and these will be sadly missed. Help ma Boab. Too true
