Winter Plumage
Winter plumage is seldom as exciting as in Spring. Certainly true for the grebes, like this wee Slavonian (Podiceps auritus).
In breeding plumage it has big yellow fans of feathers over its ears...but not in the freezing cold Firth of Forth at the end of January. Still, it has a fine, mad, red eye :)
I discovered, today, that my cousin Pam sometimes looks at my blips. Hello!
It made me check out some of the family history, and I discovered that I had got my Dad's Mum's parents completely wrong when searching the old censuses. Oops!
