Save a Bike, Ride a Taxi

Edinburgh is not exactly a city for cyclists. It is a constant up and down of hills, the traffic lights are as far from "optimised for bikers" as they could possibly be, people drive like mad* and if you do get hit by a car, you're even responsible for your own death by Scottish jurisdiction.

Coming from Freiburg, this feels like the Third World, except that my Third World prejudices have become rather romanticising (thanks Meg).

*Edinburgh has been rated the second most friendly (or something like that) drivers' city in the UK. That is not very reassuring.
