Halloween

If there's one thing that Arab students have in common (in my experience of course), it's finding any old excuse to skive off their lessons and have a party. Today the university held a Halloween party, and despite the fact that nobody has a clue what Halloween is, it provided a damn fine excuse for a bit of light relief from the tiring week.

There was a bit of a fracus at one point as some testosterone fuelled young guys got a little out of hand with some nearby builders resulting in a mass swarm of people gagging to see a fight. The change in the boys was quite unsettling as they went into battle mode, eyes wide with ferocity and adrenaline agitating their movements around campus. The entire security brigade were trying their best to keep thing under control but it was an unenviable task from what I could see.

I stayed away from the nonsense and instead concentrated on the lawn area where a brilliant band played their set whilst the rest of the students danced, dressed up, ate candy-floss and let their hair down. If they weren't directly involved, most of them were recording the event on their mobile phones with pictures and videos. My initial reservations about taking some photos for blip were nicely quashed as they tended to just ignore me or purposely attract my attention for a posed shot.

A thoroughly knackering week, but nice to finish it off feeling a wee bit Egyptee.

(Oh look, a year ago today was my Blip Of The Week!)
