Dunstan Steads Beach

We were very lucky to get a break in the rain for our visit to Dunstan Steads beach, on the other side of Dunstanburgh Castle from Craster. It had been raining all day and there were clearly showers going on all around us, giving amazing skycapes to photograph, but amazingly it didn't rain until we just got back to the car.

We had Craster kippers for breakfast, bought yesterday from the smokehouse. Charles, Dad and I had a little competition to see who could do the best poached eggs to go with the kippers, which was good fun.

We headed to Alnwick for lunch and ended up in a quaint cafe, the sort that you can sausage, beans and chips. Then we said goodbye to Mum and Dad. Charles and Kirsty were staying for another night.

After visiting the beach and later theJolly Fisherman for a pint (and ice cream for Orla), we had a seafood feast for dinner: dressed crab, garlic prawns and then smoked salmon.
