Snowdrops

It is a very chilly day, lowering grey cloud skeetering overhead in the gusty wind. Even the pheasants in the hedgerows have got their heads down. I thought of doing a little gardening this morning but it is too cold to really enjoy it and I have to work later.
My daughter J has gone to a funeral for a schoolfriend this morning. Very sad indeed. A girl she has known since her first day in pre-school was killed in a road accident, when she was walking on a country lane to her Saturday job. The whole class has gone so they are supporting each other in it.
The first snowdrops have started to come out. We are lucky to have drifts of them here. Another sign that spring is not so far away.
