What struck my fancy

Resting place

This is a rather lonely spot by the river Nene at Sutton Bridge near where it meets the sea. The wooden seat is in memory of a local man dead some 12 years. Nearby are two former light houses (East Light and West Light) which are now occupied as ordinary houses on either side of the river. East Light was a home of Sir Peter Scott, a famous naturalist who did programmes on radio and TV when I was a nipper. It's just been repainted white and does not make a good image especially with this sky.

I thought there was a bit more emotion and impact with this subject in a landscape which is otherwise very flat, and with the start of rain and a strengthening cold wind rather inhospitable.

I'm afraid you cannot read the plaque even if you view LARGE
