Gallery of Modern Art

Had this afternoon off work, so popped along to the Gallery of a Modern Art One in Belford Road.

Here are some newly acquired paintings by a Glasgow artist called Alex Dordoy (born 1985). They are called Caster 3D and are inkjet printed.

This three-part digital print reflects Dordoy's concerns with the boundaries between sculpture, painting and drawing as well as traditional and digital means of production. The figure is the South African Middle-distance runner Caster Semenya, who had intrigued Dordoy since the widely publicised controversy over the athletes gender during the 2009 World Athletics Championships.
