Kykuit

Kykuit is the palatial (believe me that the word is apt) estate of the Rockefeller family in Sleepy Hollow, NY, just along the Hudson River -- not very far from NYC.

Former Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York had superior taste in sculpture -- and the resources to back it up.

Frankly, the visit blew my mind a bit. I generally don't care for visiting 'palatial estates' very much -- it often feels to me like touring someone's personality disorder. But Gov. Rockefeller's art collection is SO extraordinary that I could only be just a little bit grateful that he had enough $$$ to gather all this good stuff together so that I could visit and get so much joy from it all.

Visit there if you enjoy sculpture of the last half-century or so. It's worth the dealing with the 'palatial estate' moral complexity.
