Last Light - Marahau

We had a very busy day visiting Motueka, the nearest town to Kaiteriteri, and then sightseeing in Mapua. On the way back to the camp we lunched at a delightful café called The Jester House in Tasman.
In the early evening Rachel and I drove over the back road to Marahau. We called in at my son Alex and daughter-in-law, Hannah’s recently purchased property. Alas, they were not there at the time. Hopefully we will catch up with them tomorrow.
So it was onward to Marahau village itself. We had hoped to capture the last of the sunlight on the sand flats to the south of the village but unfortunately clouds got in the way. So we sped quickly to the end of the road, past the village and parked adjacent to the entrance to the Abel Tasman National Park. From there we walked across the tidal flats on the special boardwalks and elevated track.
The last of the sunlight had appeared near the horizon like a band of gold. This image is looking toward part of the National Park proper and the mountains in the far distance, looking closer due to my zoom lens, are on far away D’Urville Island on the other side of Tasman Bay. The sailing boat is anchored just offshore in deeper water. We are having very big tides at the moment and the sea itself was a long out.
