Needs must

I am almost certain that if this couple had not had a small toddler to entertain, they would not have been hunkered down on Portobello beach making sand castles this morning in temperatures feeling like -2 degrees in a cold gusting wind.

However needs must and they were certainly entering into the occasion with verve although it must have been hard to operate wearing this many layers of clothing.
Like toddlers, there were dogs, plenty of these, happy to run into the wind with flapping ears and wagging tails. It seemed like a doggy paradise on the shore.

I had hoped for waves, but with an ebbing tide and no east component to the wind, the Forth was quite sheltered at Portobello.

No longer having toddlers or dogs, we headed back home and got caught in a shower. I knew the sunshine wouldn't last.
