A Little Rest …
Day 2 of skiing Revelstoke, and another cold one. Minus 16, again, and you have to lift thru a cloud/inversion layer which is moist, and adds to the cold! So, dressing warmly is super important, although in reality, not wildly different to NZ. The exceptions being, you need a great face mask, glovers and liners, and socks. Face, fingers, toes – all the first to get cold.
The day went well, we skied about the cloud and all was good, a bit more grooming over night. And then we decided to explore another chair, The Ripper. Started off well, a nice long ski into it, a beautiful ride up, just truly spectacular light, and then down “Chopper”. Only problem, the trail map appears to be not quite precise, and we may have taken a wrong turn. Basically, we ended up in the trees and then onto a steep mogul run, with the kids and my Aunt whose eyesight is less than perfect. Took an hour to do that run … But we made it, and the kids got their tree adventure!
That was enough for Robyn though, so back to a hot bath she went, while the kids and I had lunch and regrouped for the afternoon. Back into it we skied Critical Path which was great and then returned to the top for one last run. The lifts close at 3, which seems quite early. But maybe not when it can take 25 mins or more to get down the mountain. For an adventure we decided to do the longest trail, The Last Spike, all 15.2km of it. Yes, 15.2km! And around 25 mins down …
Then back to the apartment to relax, skipped the hot pool due to quite the party going on. Then out for dinner at 5.30 to the Rockford Grill. Really nice combo of bar and dinning. And then an early night. Things to organise, changing resorts tomorrow, after a mornings skiing ;-)
