Out of context. Escapee monkey from Edinburgh Zoo

Had a terrible sleep last night so I decided to give up and got up early. I waited until J was awake then we packed our bag with a flask of tea, bananas, my camera and my old Casio (which is now working) for J and we went for a walk up Corstorphine hill.

The light was so beautiful and I thought that maybe I would be able to get some good pictures. I'm still trying to find my way with what I want to photograph, as anyone who may have looked at my journal will have noticed, it's a mixed bag of subject and quality. I'm not looking for a theme, I like the randomness of a daily journal, it's how I look at things that I'm personally trying to figure out. Back in the early nineties when I was at Art college, my good old Yashica was always with me. I liked my pictures then. They seemed fresh and unpretentious. I just want to get back to that natural way of seeing things again. I know these things are easier when you're nineteen, without all the other stuff clouding your vision but I also believe you can get back there.

Anyway, enough of all that!

Whilst up Corstorphine hill, me and J saw an 'escapee' monkey just strolling along the footpath toward us!!!! At first I thought it was a strange dog. I just started taking picturs of the poor thing, it's probably what it was getting away from. Like a celebrity getting papped popping to the shops.

I phoned the Zoo and the guy I spoke to was sooooo bored, he just said ''yeah we know, loads of people have called us, he'll come back when he's ready''

I thought it was exciting! J was excited! (and taking pictures too). Monkey was quite relaxed jumping from tree to tree. He was beautiful.

I've looked him up and I think he's a Barbary Macaque. He has no tail.
