Stunt Man
Today was Spike's last day out here. The three of us headed up towards the Aiguillet d' Argentierre expecting it to be a well worn track - but we were quickly taking turns to break trail and at around 1600m we emerged onto a fantastic little area completely covered in animal tracks. For a while we amused ourselves by trying to follow the prints of a pine marten - but he was far too agile (& brave) for us and we soon headed back to our main aim of practising avalanche rescues.
Andy hadn't had the pleasure of Spike's company before, so when he pointed out that Spike had taken a dead end to the edge of some rocks he wasn't really prepared for what happened next. Camera to hand I was.
I've said before in these journals that it isn't the destination that matters, or even the journey - it's who you travel along with. Spike's enthusiasm has been a pleasure and a privilege to be around - see you soon fella.
