The York Helmet

Spent the afternoon in York wandering around. When I went to the Castle museum a few weeks ago I paid£10 instead of the £8.50. This now gives me unlimited entry to the Castle Museum and the Yorkshire museum for a whole year - a real bargain.
So after a Sunday lunch it was the Yorkshire museum. This is the York helmet, it was found during the Coppergate dig (where the Jorvick centre now is) which took place when M A Cravens sweet factory moved their factory to the outskirts of York.

My dad's office was on Piccadilly, opposite the dig and we would often watch them out of the office window.
