Ears to the ground

The wet woods are as full of jelly as a teddy bear's tea party.
I intended to blip the curious Purple Jellydisc fungus, Ascocoryne sarcoides, but I wasn't satisfied with the image so I've put it in my Blipfolio here.
Instead, this is the very common Wood (or Judas) Ear fungus, Auricularia auricula-judae (tree jelly-fish in Japanese) which, found here on a fallen branch, gives me the opportunity for a nifty title.

Another blipper blipped an amazing macro of a purple jellydisc here that shows its peculiar structure very well.
