Working at heights

It was extremely busy at school today, and is likely to remain so all week. All the science teachers are trying to cram in as many demonstrations and practicals as possible, because next week they will not be able to do anything - that is the week we are packing everything up ready for the move to the new building over half term. There will be no demonstrations or practicals in the first week back, either, as we will be unpacking and putting everything away.

The result is that there are conflicting demands for the same equipment and materials; stuff is being shared between classes, and there is a mad dash at the end of every lesson to move things between labs, ready for the next class. At the same time, Year 12 Physiscs coursework has started this week, and is intended to continue over the following 3 school weeks (that equipment has had to be separated out from the move).

To add to the drama of the day, some repair work was being carried out on the roof of the existing single storey science block to the exhaust fan for one of the fume cupboards - it has to be repaired before the contractors will move it across to the new bulding. Unfortunately, one of the workmen fell (not sure of the details, but he seems to have fallen from the ladder being used to gain access to the roof). Last we saw of him, he was being stretchered away to the ambulance. Not a good thing.

It quite puts me off climbing ladders.
