Vettriano at the Kelvingrove

A friend and I have been planning to see the Jack Vettriano Retrospective exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum for ages, so today was the day! We caught the bus to Glasgow and spent a very enjoyable morning looking at the paintings in the company of several hundred others of the same mind:-) This exhibition has been a sell-out from day one and the interest doesn't seem to have waned.

I have to confess that I liked his famous beach scenes better than some of his other work, but it was interesting to see so many of his paintings shown together, most on loan from private collections. This is almost unheard of for a living artist!

We managed to view several of the other items on display in the museum, including the stunning painting by Salvador Dali of The Crucifixion and a collection of artifacts from the last residents of St Kilda, so it was a day filled with culture and interest:-) The weather wasn't too bad either and didn't start to rain until we were safely on the bus to come home!
