Claremont Hotel, Redux

We are back in Berkeley for a couple of days. Our busy schedule includes a trip to the dentist (our excuse for coming back here), work for John, lunch with my friends for me. We are staying with friends we have known since our sons were in kindergarten together, and have already walked to the Chinese restaurant with them for dinner. This is the one thing we miss in Santa Rosa where our somewhat rural address prevents us from walking anywhere.

Our parking pass for the Claremont Hotel, where we used to belong to the health club, still works, and is right across the street from our dentist and our onetime hangout--Peet's coffee. I couldn't resist a shot of the tower behind the palm trees. There are still some clouds around, most of them puffy and white, but this one looking a bit as if it might actually contain a little rain. It's amazing how little affected by the drought the urban/residential landscape here appears, compared to the rural vineyards and fields around us in Santa Rosa. The fact that it doesn't freeze at night in Berkeley is probably also a factor.

Our Grandson, Will got his driver's license today. A red letter day in a young man's life. He has already driven to his friend's house in OilMan's beloved car, which he has bestowed upon Will. Dana reports that he returned with "no new dents". Not sure whose home the car has returned to, but it will soon be officially be Will's car. Congratulations, Wilson!
