Early bird

I saw this Crested Pigeon in the tree this morning at around about 8:30AM. Quickly grabbed my camera and managed several shots before it took off. Just one was in focus and here it is, my early bird shot for the day!

Better crest needing some Brylcreem!

The Crested Pigeon is a stocky pigeon with a conspicuous thin black crest that looks like a bad hair day! Most of the plumage is grey-brown, becoming more pink on the underparts. The wings are barred with black, and are decorated with glossy green and purple patches. The head is grey, with an pinkish-red ring around the eye. All in all this one is a very attractive looking bird.
