Nigella eat your heart out!

Tonight I embarked on a new baking adventure. I made the famous Red Velvet cupcake (a signature dessert at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City during the 1920s). I was inspired to have a go by Y, who baked them for our Friday cake day ritual at the end of last week.

They are really quite a spectacular colour (the artificial food colouring high hasn't kicked in yet!) and the icing .... well you could even just eat that on its own!

Had too many for us, so took a couple over to L and SD across the road - sorry band 2 - maybe next Sunday night?

If I have inspired you to have a go and bake, make sure you have some bleach handy to remove the stains that will most certainly appear on your worktop from the red food colouring.

Apart from baking, took MP out a very wet walk/swim - she was SO excited because Mugdock was flooded by puddles everywhere -she didn't know which one to run about in first. Think it has finally stopped raining now.
