I arrived at the hide around 12:30. There were a couple of "serious photographers", big lenses, big cameras that had been there since 8:30, hoping to see the Short-eared Owls. They were good company but obviously the resident birds were awaiting their departure. They left without seeing their target bird around 13:30 after which we were treated to a pair of displaying Red Kites, distant views of a Great Grey Shrike and up to four Short-eared Owls at one time.
