About Blue Jasmine

I seriously think this movie could beat some A budget movies nominated in the Oscar Awards! Kate Blanchett is such a great artist and she has done her part so well. She outshines everybody else, in every conceivable way!

The story is quite inspiring. I am always keen on movies depicting successful woman or pathetic woman. Jasmine, as the leading character in the movie, is definitely pathetic. And her doomed destiny results from herself: she made herself loser though she thought she deserves better life.

There are many dramatic conflicts depicted in a subtle way, which is within expectation but meanwhile somewhat beyond imagination. Her snobbishness and high-self-esteem discust me in many ways, yet meanwhile aroused a sense of empathy on her.

The BGM, featured with light and joyful jazz, most are sang in French or at least in French style, is such a work of genius in this sad sad movie. It contrast with the plot yet echoed with the hypocritical aroma of the whole screen setting.

That is fascinating!
