Bit of a drama today. About to head out for a longer trial when the tsunami warning siren went off. We were a bit disappointed with the local marina - they all ran for higher ground and did nothing to warn a number of yachts anchored out in the marina, who would have been wiped out if the wave came through. D & I shuttled families with children in off some of the boats and warned others to clear out before heading away ourselves.

We figured we had about 15 min to spare by the time we hit Wilkes Passage through into the open sea. 40m depth shot to 1050m and we were safe. The tsunami never eventuated which was a relief. Not sure how much of it the reef would have stopped. We wandered along outside the reef break for a few hours before heading in again.

Just back throught he passage and our engine broke down again. Ah well, back to the drawing board.
