Stormy Sky
Oh, oh darlin', little darlin'
Did you ever see such a stormy sky?
It's never been like this before
All the people, they're runnin'
Everybody's tryin' to hide
To get away from that stormy sky
Perhaps it's a sign of what we're headed for
We're under a stormy sky
Watchin' the clouds roll by
But won't you let me keep you warm
And leave the storm outside?
It's only a stormy sky
Well last night didn't pan out quite how we were expecting. The weather was wild but the rain eased a little and we decided to risk heading into Bantry to go to the cinema. All was fine as we arrived and we met some friends then went to partake of fish and chips. We emerged three quarters of an hour later and Bantry was under two foot of water, the fire brigade optimistically pumping - high tide, and the sea had just swam in. We couldn't get to the cinema and we couldn't get home. Himself waded to the car and parked it on a slightly higher level and we congregated in a small shelter with other waifs and strays- joggers, dog walkers, cinema goers. Eventually we were frozen and headed off to Ma Murphy's, a cosy pub, for a couple of hours until the waters had subsided enough to get home.
The wind is still fierce today and I braved the mountain and went to Schull for the haircut. The woman in EuroSpar told me that it's going to be the worst ever this friday and saturday.
Coming home, a bit of blue sky and sunset briefly appeared. It's still blowng a hooley and we're on orange alert. Enough now.
Stormy Sky -rather mellow considering.
And last year's blip was in a similar vein.
