Phrenology
Cast of the head of James Cardinal, who suffered from hydrocephalus. Remarkably he lived to the age of 30 and died in 1827. This bust survived the fire and dismantling of the Anatomy Museum of Queen's University Belfast. He was studied keenly by the advocates of phrenology. Apparently his skull became translucent if a candle was held behind his head.
